I started out with a Patagonia "paddling jacket" on top of a farmer john, usually peeled down to the waist.  Now I'm wondering what the deal is with dry gear.  Breathable vs. not.  Full drysuits for kayak fishing or pants and tops?  What about multi-use?...Many kayak anglers dive.

Here's the bummer.  Dry Tops cost $250, pants cost more and a full drysuit starts at $350 and goes to a thousand bucks.

What do we need and what will we pay for?
Thanks for feedback here or via PM.

Good Day Gents      I've always done my fishing coastal or open water ,so depending on the water temp my wetsuit is a 2/3 or 3/4 full , keeps the sun ,wind , and chill at bay. I do this for comfort and safty, not to mention that when I fish the kelp beds if my fish does a kelp wrap on me I'll grab my mask and fins and dive down to cut it out and retrieve it. Hate to lose a stout WSB or Yellowtail to kelp. As far as a drysuit ,I pee in my wetsuit and it flushes out pretty well , so go figure. A buddy of mine said he over heated a couple of times in his drysuit so he brokedown and got  a full wetsuit.  Trial and error can get a little pricey    good luck to all in finding your own comfort zone.  Riskey Water
