I think the cuda are here early. I say this because of two reasons. First it is an El Nino. Which in spanish means
"little child that makes water warm and confusing aqua for los crazy fishes." The water is 59 degrees which is 2 degrees away from perfect. Secondly, I was visited in a dream last night.
Bezerksies the great, prehistoric, mega cuda appeared...
"Booooooobbbbbb, boooobbaaaaaacapa" It roared in the dream.
Yes,,, what.Who is there i answered back. All I could see were waves and waves of half chewed bait fishes awash in blood.
Half mackerals, sides of sardines and headless anchovies made a cloud unto which the giant slime serpant appeard.
It was the face in all of my most
frightening of nightmares.
I could tell it was Bezerksies by the crushed rusted rapala dangleing from his scarred lip.
A shreaded strand of what looked to be 50 lb. spectra hung from the decomposing lure like dental floss.
"I bring you a message of warning from a place not far from where you are sleeping.
I offer you this information only in hope that you and the others turn and surrender this NCZ (Northern Cuda Zone) back to us before it is too late."

I awoke concerned but not detoured.
"This a war that I didn't start but a war i will finish."  Grin

If the water warms a degree or two by Sunday, a few of us will take another look. I did 5 miles on Friday and found good conditions with little bait and no slime to speak of.  This can change on a dime.  If the water stays the same, rockfishing is the ticket Naf.
I will let you know.

Don't know how accurate the VC Star water temps are, but looks like that cold front set us back a couple degrees, probably the temps are from Ventura harbor.I saw some birds going nutso at Rincon pt. on the way to work yesterday...only 100 yds. off the breakers, so it looks like some bait is out there....maybe i'll try a halibut drift tomorrow a.m. if you all are gonna wait'n see on the rockets...good to see someone posting about fishing again, this site has been purty slow lately.let me know if your gonna take a wack at'em!

I was starting to worry about Anacapabob, then he redeems himself with a post such as this.  Now that we are past daylight savings time, it means spring and summer and a happy, slimey, anacapabob!

Warming conditions. We like 60 to 62 degrees for water temp soon.  It's getting there and now we could be allowed a salmon fishery again this season!
Weather request; Mild santa ana for 5 more days.  Low pressure system comes and brings 2 " of rain every tuesday until  June.  Green/blue off shore seas with light afternoon N/W winds.
