Alooooooooooooooha!  We'll be posting what's going on here in Hawaii with the Aquahunters progressive tournament that runs from February 1 - September 30... Yup, it's a long one!

Tournament format:
- All contestants have 40 days to fish between Feb 1 - Sept 30, 2008
- You can choose any day to fish, but you need to report in by phone call to Isaac Brumaghim (Aquahunters head man), email, or on http://forum.aquahunters.com. This tournament is on the honor system!
- Anyone from any Hawaiian island is welcome to enter.
- Points are earned for type of fish and weight (20# and over gets you bonus points)

I'll start posting pictures when I get home from work. Shocked I know...shouldn't be on from work, but I can't help myself. Wink
Aloha,
Kevin (the older Uyeda Brother)

The tournament started off with Jesse Johnson from Maui drawing first blood with a 13# mahimahi (dorado). The first 4 months of the tournament has been a BLAST with Rocket (Isaac Brumaghim - Pictured with the orange OK Prowler Trident) and Boogie-D (David Elgas - Pictured with the red Hobie) battling for the lead with the rest of us scrambling to catch up.

Great stuff I'm looking for some record submissions including ono, mahi, ulua and ahi.  Regarding ahi, I know Islanders have had them pushing 200#.   I've seen pix of 150 pounders by that kayak fishing construction crew that's probably trying to stay anonymous by now.
All we need is the picture and the story.
Thanks

100+ lb Ahi...tough to get unless you mothership or get lucky with them by barges and things like that. Nobody in the Aquahunter crew motherships (unless they're keeping it a secret), so no 100+ ahi for us yet. I have heard that someone pulled up a 100+ ulua recently though, but he's staying underground.

Here are some of the ulua (giant trevally) that have been caught during the tournament. The first one is a catch and release ulua by Dan on the Big Island. That was one BIG fish that wasn't weighed.

Are you all fishing off Oahu ? or are there other teams on other islands?  I lived on the big island for 6 months while working on a show.  Did not get much time to fish, wish I would have.  Spent all my extra time staying with friends that live in Kona.  Surfed so much thought I was going to grow gills.  Grin

This is a state wide kayak fishing tournament, but I think only Oahu, the Big Island, and Maui are represented. There's still a lot of time for Kauai, Lanai, and Molokai anglers to enter.

Tournament Update - Isaac "Rocket" Brumaghim is in the lead with David "Boogie" Elgas hot on his heels! They are both bringing up some awesome fish and don't look like they're planning on slowing down any time soon. Third and fourth place are now held by Andy and Steve Cho from the Big Island. They came out of nowhere and have been killing it on the Big Island with some great catches. Here's a few pics of Andy and Steve Cho's catches...
