Heard of some salmon being picked up recent...think'n it might be worth while to try an exploratory troll outside arco island,if the weather is as nice as expected this Sunday.... maybe some slime rockets or whip tails out there.Any one interested?

Those gale force winds will do that to salmon.
Find the place where the major upwelling is and there you will find them.
Too bad they are still closed down here.

I heard Horse Mountain will get a whole whopping 10 day season.
Dennis should investigate and catch us something.

That 10 day season is still pretty far north of me.  I think I'll just stay patient and hopefully, we'll get a season next year.
I went to make a salmon aqavit for the holidays (like lox).  At $160 for a wild salmon, I rolled a dozen ahi/shrimp/avocado sushi rolls and made a tuna tartare with what was left.  Under 30 bucks!

Beautiful day on the Rincon......for excercise! Paddled around the island, then maybe a mile out and headed for the point dragg'n a rapala for no takers, very nice and glassy. couple groups a dolphins gave me a look see thats always cool no matter how many times you see it! Sad how devoid of fish the Rincon is relative to when i started fishing in the early 70's.I paddled for more than 3 hours, it was good to be otw, hope the tendonitis in the elbow dont show tomorrow.probably still early for Threshers but it was nice to be out there i'll keep on try'n when the weather and a dayoff come together...some pretty good size beach break in the a.m. and the water was a bit chillly but waited for the lull and stayed dry, coming in at lower tide was no problem.

There is some slime in the counts now in San Diego.  Our water is warming and ideally we want 61 degrees at Arco.  Last year at this time and the year before, the cuda bite was fast, furious and ends on Memorial day.  This year, global cooling or whatever has the water at 56 and and rising slowly.  It will be a short, late devil stick run in 2 weeks from now. I'm calling it.  Roll Eyes

Water has warmed to a sizzeling 54 degrees and there are 5 cuda in the counts.  I'm hoping for a few more degrees.

The MDR cuda counts are thick with the slime!  Shocked Shocked Shocked I am looking to get out Memorial day and I may have to drive down to Malibu to hunt them unless they show in the counts up here in Ventura.

I found them on Saturday, finally!  I launched out of Sea Cliff above Ventura.  They were in 100' of water and enjoyed rapalas.
Another friend of mine fished them yesterday and did very well.  Reminder: It is a two mile paddle.
