The Marine Life Protection Act is a state law mandating creation of a network of marine reserves aka closures. There’s no fighting it – this thing is the law of the land and has the full backing of the governor and legislature. So Cal is up next, beginning right now. We can expect to lose from 10 to 20 percent of our total state waters. WHICH water is a key question, and why we are bothering at all. Do you like your launch site? Participate in the process – Go to Meetings – Help the KFACA with the coming mountain of documents – and soon Give Cash to fund KFACA MLPA Efforts.

I've heard rummors of proposed closure to all commercial and sport fishing in California for 100 years, and a lot of other drastic conservation ideas. Us sport fisherman are hardly a drop int the bucket as far as the ecology of the ocean is concerned, especialy compared to the commercial fishermen and the fish farmers that do more harm than good to the environment. Shutting down coastal water definately is not the answer. Sport fishermen have brought back the WSB and the BSB is continuing to gain growth in their population. The sportsman should be left to the conservation, if not why do we have a state game warden appointed by the governor?
