Hit the water at 5:40 made bait just outside the kelp in front of the houses. Dropped a sardine live lined with a1/2 I'd egg sinker threw on a plastic and began a paddle up the coast. Stopped at the next big patch of kelp hoping for some bass strikes no luck that but caught a couple small fish that looked like croaker to me. I got bored of the kelp so paddled off shore a ways to try some drifts in the sand for some flaties. No hits on sardines so decided to catch some lizard fish see if anything would hit that on the bottom, but still nothing more than a few more croaker on jigs. Decided to call it at 12, even though no catch the weather was great, the sun was was warm, no wind so the water was glass, and the chest high breakers were easy to navigate through. Have another day off Friday, don't know where but planning to hit somewhere in Malibu again. Happy fishing
