I went out yesterday with a couple guys from the Orlando Kayak Fishing Club.  Good people.  Some mornings have been cold here recently.  It was around 40 degrees when we paddled out.  It was a breezy day, and the wind fooled us and the weatherman, so we ended up paddling 12 miles, almost all of it into the wind.  It warmed up nicely though, and we spotted some massive trout over the sandy areas.  They were very spooky and difficult to spot without scaring them off.  I've been getting better at standing and poling my yak over the flats & saw one that I'm sure was over 30 inches.  I finally got lucky later on with one of the big dogs, my first "gator" trout, on a Mirrolure mr17.  I watched a second big trout follow my lure all the way back to my yak without hitting it.   Tongue  One of the other guys got a nice big fat red.  A good day on the water, but I am sore today.  Thanks to Mike from the Orlando club for posting this picture on the club's forum.

I fished ML a whole lotta years ago with Doug Olander.  It was an off day.  Years later, I met Ken Daubert at Pine Island on the other side and we whacked a lot of trout and I got my first dink snook and red.  FL is an awesome fishery.
Thanks for your reports Mike!

Good job on the catch.

12 mile paddle  Shocked     Yowsers.  That is some massive paddling going on.

As long as you had fun.  That is the key to all this.  imo.

Thanks for the report.  Cool
