I'd be remiss, with every guy and a hull pushing so cal/baja kayak mothership trips lately, to not mention Captain Forrest Mize and the Fuji.  The Fuji is runs kayaks only, no stand up fishermen.  It makes a difference.

Affordable day trips for 1-4 anglers.  Capt. Mize is a recently retired military commander at one of the Channel Islands and a kayak fisher who knows the fishery better than most.  He's sick for white sea bass (and my 75#er is the record to break).  If you only have 1-4 kayaks, this is a trip to consider.

I booked a trip on the FUJI (not FIJI) with skipper Forrest Mize out of Ventura Harbor last week.  Although not a kayak trip, I can tell you the Fuji III is an ideal kayakfishing mother ship -  low gunwhales, low freeboard, swimstep and plenty of deck space aft.  We were late coming in becasue Forrest wanted to put us in the WSB, which were present but not biting.  He was willing to stay out as long as it took.  Unfortunately, our wives aren't part of the program.  Will be booking   a kayak trip in the near future.   It's alot easier to find 3 other fisherman with the cash available on the same day.

Yep,
The Fuji is fast becoming the mothership to get on.  Feedback my way is over the top.  I'm bufferring for the fall of my WSB record here, it's been a nice, long run so far.
Thanks Forrest

PS Typos are inexcusable and I apologize.

Wolfman - let me know if you need one more.  I am in Santa Monica and can get up there pretty quick.

Now that looks like a good time.  The one thing I did not like about the other one day mother ship trips is you always seemed to get a hand full of people that would take away from quality fishing time.  Slow loading all those kayaks first thing ,then the amount of time it would take some to set up their yaks before you could even get yours off the rack.  I can remember a few times knowing my yak was coming off last so instead of getting bent out of shape waiting I would spend 45min throwing plastic off the bow.  Not the way I was looking to start a one day kayak fishing trip. Fuji charters = Smaller boat, faster load and unload. Faster to get out to the fishing grounds.  And a boat capt. willing to stick it out a little longer.  Hell ya.  When I get the money and the water warms up a bit count me in.....
Peace Out
