The forum and website look great a also the fishing looks tremendous ! Wish we had some of the game species you catch over here in the UK. We do have a good  selection of fish such as Cod, Ling, Pollock, Bass etc ..  Seems you have the weather too ....  Smiley

Thanks for the post.  Sounds like the makings for a lot of fish and chips with all that cod and ling.  There are big fish on all the U.S. shores but in California, we have more species and the heaviest too.  Come on out sometime for thresher shark or yellowtail (a big edible jack) and some 10-20 kilo flatfish with heads like german shepards (the dogs).

In your other post you asked about the best boat used here.  Probably like there in the UK, there just isn't a best kayak for fishing (unless it's from the mouth of a kayak dealer, a manufacturer pro-staffer who gets free boats or it's the model you own).  There are 10 or so popular kayak models used that fit anglers and the various fisheries coast to coast.  That said, various models from Cobra, Heritage, Hobie. Hurricane, Native, OK, Perception, WS, and the various conglamerate spinoffs to a few of those like Mainstream plus a few off-our-shore manufacturers like RTM and Bic Sports...plus there are a half dozen "Mom and Pop" manufactureres making specialty fishing kayaks too.  That almost makes up the kayak fishing fleet in the U.S.

Thanks in advance for letting me use your contribution as we set policy for this forum.  This forum style board is new to us, just over a week now.  Running the quality of contributions around the block of opinion, we hope contributors will use the forums to be part of the global community of the sport first, letting the promotions come through regular kayak anglers while we build good associations with the industry who will further this effort with their support...not posts that are only intended to promote business efforts.

I understand that most sites invite commercial links and promotions, Kayakfishing.com exists differently than those venues.   I've always taken great pride in the edirorial quality of Bulletin Boards we published in the past...up until our spam era anyway... and we'll continue that direction with the Forums.

Commecial links may be an issue, or the whole issue, since this site successfully sells (and survives on) advertising and links.  Again, that would only be an issue when the link is published by an industry representative or their shill, not a citizen angler who at this point, can post anything they want.  Our direction will be like the previous Bulletin Board System where we simply have a PUBLIC forum without industry authored contributions beyond a few sponsor kayak dealers and guides who post tastefully and informatively.
