Hey all.  Took my son out Monday for his first time, out in the big water, had a great time.  This was also our first time out fishing in our newly acquired OK Cabo. We fumbled around the reef at Carpenteria for a while just getting used to things.  We got into some Calico action.  Drew had (still has) some big smiles.  So does dad.  WE want to go out again.  Sunday should have less FOG!!!!  Is anybody going?  I`m based out of Ventura now.  Carp. has the EASY parking and close for the Cabo launch, man is that thing BIG!

Careful out there.
Santa Ana's are blowing right now.  Not safe in Malibu.
It seems right around Arco Island, Santa Ana's stop.
So if you did go, I hope is was North of Arco.

Good luck.

Hi all,  We did go out, even if it was thirty feet.  Drew got a lesson today, took a small wave to the chest and surprised the heck out of him.  Took about 7 sec. to recover, which was about 5 sec. to watch the next one come on in and wack him/us again.  Anyway, we ended/started the a.m. in the drink.  MAN, its cold out there. Everything was tied down , no lost equip. just a cold lesson.  Close enough to go back home for the hot shower and hot coco.  Still wants to go out next time(when the ankle slappers come in).   Hope everyone had a great holiday.  I know We did.  Markus

How old is your son? My son is 15 now and we've been launching at Carp before we had our own kayaks. They used to rent them there pretty cheap. They came with helmets...mildew included at no extra charge.

Carp reef sure looks fishy, but we never had good luck there.  Too many seals, I think.

Hi, Yea, saw a dog out there on our monday trip.  He stayed about 50 ft away for the most part.  Drew is 10 yrs.  I have taken him and Sadie(13) out in Los Alimitoes(sp) Bay a bunch, but first time in the Ocean. Markos
