I tried to do an email to the participants, the satelite connection here in the woods has been like molasses for a few days and I timed out Grin.

Most guys have mothershipped and declined a gear list.  Dry bags with T-shirts, sweatshirts and paddle jacket/shell/waterproof windbreaker.   I prefer bait tubes over bait tanks.  Call me if you can't fish without your bait tank.   There will be bait tender support OTW.  Radios are mandatory for all!  5 nets each is OK.  Please have them secured.  That will help plan a smooth trip.
Departure time is up in the air until firther communication.  We will depart friday afternoon, evening, TBD tomorrow.  Pete, please CALL ME with your feedback asap.  The rest of ya, I can't wait to fish.  I'll be in touch as soon as I get a copy of the manifest with final details.  In the meantime, conmtact me anytime.  I'm fishing 20 and 30# line.  Bait, and jigs.  Bring a few 12 oz torpedo sinkers too... the skipper has a plan.
Thanks,
Spike

Dennis, wish I could have hopped on this trip, gotta work! Can't wait to see the reports. I also appreciate the open invitation encouraging others to charter the Black Pearl. I am looking into the possibility of something next month. Rick sounds like he will doing this right! Good luck to you guys Grin

Thanks Andy,
There will be a lot more opportunities.  I'll get a few days posted for December and the hooping dates for Jan/Feb too.

As far as chartering, I felt early on the best way to fill the boat year after year would be to offer it to every guide whose clients were looking for another destination to fish with them.  Private parties, kayak and tackle shops too.  It's working out great with charters originating from all the way back east, NE to Florida!

While a handful of guides have layed claim to similar trips, that was after Kayakfishing.com initially turned those operations down.  I have a few doubts those boats will eventually fill with kayaks when the demand catches up but they were way before their time.

Short of 5 star accomodations, I think most anglers will appreciate the fishability and 100% kayak angler dedication of this Black Pearl operation.  I've been waiting a long time for this and really think some kayak fishing history will unfold down the line.

Thanks to everyone who signed up.  We can still accomodate 2 more this weekend so call the landing at 1 805-382-6233.  I'll get a few more dates posted over the weekend.

Let's be ready to sail Friday at 6pm.  I talked to the landing today and nobody's timbers are shivering about the forecast so we plan to fish.  Dress warm and dry on the top half.  I packed my thermos and cocoa and should probably look at a thermos style cup too.  I strongly suggest a kilo to 5# of squid.  I think 2 hook rigs are fine.  I take a spool of 20# Fluero line and tie about 40 dropper loops on it.  Makes for a quick rockfish rigging after a rare breakoff or when the line gets beat up.  I learned that from Captain Ken Franke and the Outer Limits.
20 and 30# test, if you like spectra lines, rockfishing is one of those few applications where spectra works well on kayaks.
I'm hopeful for a surprise halfway up and will be jigging lots of iron.
Contact me anytime.

Dennis, considered bringing free diving gear and gun for WSB. Do you think we might have a shot?   bosco

Always better to have the gear and not use it than to be wishing.
Can't wait.

I would love to be on this trip, but gotta work fri. and sat. (what happened to my trust fund??)
Sure hope you guys get a good trip. Weather report calls for sunny conditions, hopefully without wind and chop.
Potto, do us proud with your 1st place Kayakapolooza prize trip. Any extra lobster, feel free to drop on by, I'll have the water boiling and the butter melted.
Spike, swing by before you head north.
Kill a few for me!
