I hunted, fished and kayaked the Klamath River for 7 days. What a blast! This is one big, beautiful river.
My buddy has a place near Yreka Ca and it is right on the water.
He and his friends hunted deer and bear while I emersed myself in the beautiful and mighty Klamath with a kayak and flyrod.
I would paddle 5 mile stretches of the river and had no idea what to do with the "rapids." I was very nervous with wide eyes and white knuckles trying not to roll in the turbidity.
On the first rapids I experienced, I over corrected and wound up comming down backwards! I didn't roll which was a blessing and said a prayer out loud. I knew I had 5 more of them before I pulled the kayak into my friends backyard.
In between the wildwater, I would fish for steel head and salmon.
I caught 6 steelhead and missed the salmon for lack or roe.
I didn't shoot any mountain quail or grouse but made hay of the ducks! Amazing duck hunting with lots of geese up at the SWR was shared with my friends who took a break from deer hunting Wednesday.

This was the backyark where I stayed.  I sipped coffee and watched 20 lb. King salmon move up river every day.

Looking for deer in the moring.

Lovely, hard pulling, high jumping steelhead.  (Released)

My view down river on a "calm" fishable section.

A green wing teal.  Unbelievable duck hunting at the SWR!

Blessed is he who sheperds the weak in the valley of darkness, for he is trully his brothers keeper and the finder of lost children. I will strike down upon thee with great vengence and furious anger on those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers....
