Hello Kayakfishing.com,
My name is Derek ( Paffoh ) and am delighted to find the original website here has been upgraded with a forum, this was the first kayak fishing site I ever visited a few years ago! ( Seems like it anyway ). I hail from the capital of Australia, Canberra ( No Sydney is not the capital ) and have been Kayak Fishing around the Southern Eastern state and territory of N.S.W / A.C.T for a number of years. I am a moderator on Australia's premier Kayak fishing site (
http://www.akff.net ) and have an extensive blog online ( Link below ) :
Kayak Fishing Adventures -
http://www.paffoh.blogspot.comCanberra is located some 160kms inland of the eastern coast line, so Freshwater fishing is the staple diet. Journeying down the coast is reserved for weekends and occasional sujourns but well worth the effort. Australian fish species vary around these parts and obviously fluctuate in the colder months. In our warmer months its is quite common to catch large Flathead and other species like Yellowtail Kingfish or OZ Salmon in the salty water. In our winter months, Large Snapper frequent the seaboards while the Trout ( Rainbow / Brown / Brook ) venture from the depths of our deep highland lakes, eager to spawn and feed before the sun is at its sharpest.
So much information I wish to relay but I will not attempt a feeble feat in my first post, instead I would suggest if you are seeking more information on fishing from a Kayak down under please check out my blog for monthly updates ( It has been too cold lately, Brrrr ).
Love this site,
Derek 'Paffoh'
