Too windy to hit the redfish flats this weekend, again.  Jay has been telling me there are small tarpon in Turkey Creek, and that it's a good back up plan when it is windy.  I went down to the boat ramp early this morning, it's only 10 minutes from my apartment.  Pretty good tidal flow in the creek, which I figured was a good sign.  Paddled maybe 200 yards to the spot Jay told me to look for them, and it didn't take long to see a few rolling.  He said to put a DOA Bait Buster right in front of them when they roll.  Caught a little one in the first hour, 10 lbs. on the Econo Lipper.  Came completely out of the water at least five times, I was soaked by the time I got it in.  I was pretty happy about that, but I just kept doing drifts with the wind through the area where they were and casting to the rollers.  I missed another strike, and eventually hooked another.  It dragged me around the little cove I was in, and spun my kayak all the way around twice.  Two big head shaking jumps.  I don't know what it weighed, it easily pegged the 25 lb. Econo Lipper.  My thumb to pinky scale said it was about 45 inches long.  Off the water and back home by 9:30.  Time to get a nap before the football games.

Bad economy news, Jay and his partner closed one of the two locations of their yak shop.  The good news is he'll have some weekdays off now.  He and his partner had been manning both locations, meaning only one weekend day off.  We're going to try to hit the redfish on Tuesday.
