My son (an excellent 16-year-old angler) and I were wondering if anyone had any recommendation about good spots for some Kayak Fishing in and around Santa Barbara this time of year.
Thank you in advance for your ideas.

There are lotsa guys with better local knowledge who will chime in eventually. My favorite spots are north and south. I like Refugio in summer. Tons of kelp and action up the line. Carp reef to the south is very fishy and popular among kayak anglers. Rarely but occasionally on the natural cycle (once every 3 to 15 years), you can catch salmon just out the mouth of SB harbor. Lots of salmon opportunities close to home (SB north beaches) every season when they are legal take.
Thanks for posting!

Or watch the movie about Dohaney there will be blood that movie is about that area and taft

And don't forget Goleta Beach. Easy launch with Butts and Bass up at the point and all around the bay.

no blame here on the oil, just stating facts... bring paper towels and veggie oil...or it will be alll over you if you get caught in certain spots.
lets not start a political board about offshore drilling, or its all down hill from here!
launching at goleta beach is great, if you have the paddle in ya, go all the way around the point and there are some good kelp beds off of Isla Vista. There may even be some launch access in IV now days since its summer. When I lived there there was a couple of spots possible...

Try Summerland too. There are great reefs there by the old santa claus lane. Good luck!
