Here's the skinny.  I get way too many requests for guiding throughout the state with way too few guides to refer t...especially in So Cal.  A modest operation of kayak guiding is worth somewhere around $10,000 gross a year working less than 20 weekends.   It ain't a living in California so plan on keeping the day (or night) job or doing like so many "successful" kayak angling professionals, get the ol` lady to bring home the bacon and insurance benefits.

You'll need 3 rigged kayaks, must be friendly and personable and eager to teach.  Like Mr. Limpet and DRJ.  It's easy if you love it.  The license is easily attainable and inexpensive.  I have inexpensive bonding and insurance agents.  Most guiding is entry level, the rest is specie specific to halibut and threshers all along the coast and yellowtail and WSB at La Jolla.

Guides can take a (very affordable) guide listing with info at Kayakfishing.com or just take the referrals directly from me and a few other key guides, your choice.

The benefits are pro-staff deals on outfitting (without selling your soul to one manufacturer), a tax write-off for your fishing expenditures, some extra income and a great excuse to fish more often.

Contact me directly via email with questions and for more info.
