First East Coast Fishing Day

Did my first east coast day out in a new Native Ultimate 14.5 Sunday. Went with a group led by a guy from the shop were I purchased the boat. Nice day, nice people, nice boat. We went to the Whale Tale area of Mosquito Lagoon. There were 5 of us in yaks, and a number of flats boats all around. I had some casts at some redfish, but didn't get any to bite. Caught a few trout, the biggest about 18". So different than home, the water we were fishing was only 1-2' deep. Spotting the tailing reds was easy. Getting close and getting them to bite was harder.
The Native Ultimate is great. Tracks well, paddles easy. Lots of room inside, and very easy to move around and get in and out. Thanks for the tip Spike. Been scouting some local spots to fish afternoons after work. Turkey Creek, with a launch ramp, and from what I hear many small tarpon and big snook 15 minutes away. Got a two bedroom apartment with two double beds in the spare bedroom, and a sleeper sofa in the living room, and a 10' x 15' storage unit a few blocks away for my boat. I'll be back home in LA for a bit starting mid next week.

Good for you Mike! You'll get more opportunities when those boat boys aren't around spooking the bite. My first red was on a gold spoon with a feather right up on the bank.
Whack `em!
