Freshwater & Ocean Fishing Supplement Posted Online The 2008-2009 Freshwater & Ocean Fishing Supplement has been posted to the Department
Web site at
www.dfg.ca.gov/marine/sportfishing_regs2008.asp. The regulations in
this supplement supercede regulations listed in the 2008-2009 Freshwater and/or
Ocean Sport Fishing regulation booklets. Paper copies of the supplement are currently
being printed and should be available at your local DFG office and local license
vendors in August.
Ocean fishing regulations listed in this year's supplement include regulations
concerning ocean salmon, groundfish in the Northern and North-Central Management
Areas, and a reminder concerning the need to purchase a Spiny Lobster Report Card
this September before engaging in that fishery. Also included are fish identification
illustrations for canary, yelloweye and vermilion rockfishes, and tips for helping
rockfish survive barotrauma (bloating injuries) when they are brought up from depth
and then released.
Please note that the supplement does not contain a complete set of basic fishing
regulations. Continue to refer to your copy of the 2008-2009 Freshwater and/or Ocean
Sport Fishing regulation booklet for regulations not mentioned in the supplement.
