Will be spending a week in the Shasta area first week of October.Would like to bring my yak but don't really want to cartop it that far...any body fish that area?Would appreciate any advice as what to target and how at that time of year.rent a yak or skiff is my plan.leadcore get down far enough?

Spotted bass action should still be decent, and possibly quite shallow.  The local board is almost exclusively a bass board.  Maybe shops such as the basshole or Phil's propellers can give you current advice on trout.  I live 50 miles north, but don't get down there that much.
