Paddled out at 8.30 or so and it was already quite warm. Main objective for today was to test my new fish finder. There was a big swell, 5 ft or so, about 12 seconds apart. Made me fell queesy after a couple of hours since I have not been out in a while. The fishfinder was very helpful with locating bait and I soon had some small macks, spanish macks and a few dines. I drifted different areas for halibut, but no takers today. I checked out the Redondo Canyon, hoping to maybe locate some rockfish, but there were no marks so I did not bother.
It was a gorgeous day and we are truly fortunate to live here.

In so cal, locating bait schools and depth were the key to using fishfinders and today, I hardly use them to find fish marks. Thanks for the report. I'm still crabbing in Sonoma County but we get a 27 day SALMON Season Saturday.
