What a day! Got a late start and hit the water at 8.30. It was already getting warm. I paddled to the Hermosa Pier stopping a few times for a few nibbles. There was no wind and no current, which made for lousy fishing, but great paddling. Ended up with two mackerel, one small bonito, a tiny sand dab and an octopus, all released.
Had one exciting moment when I hooked what appeared to be a sizable halibut, but he came unbottoned. I don't think he was really hooked, but just clamped down on the Gulp swimbait I was using.
On the way back in, I actually took my shirt off and paddled bare back.
