Thanks Mike, years ago we had strong Florida bulletin boards, maybe we can get a taste of that back with this new forum.  The East Coast and gulfstream are very fishy.  Sharks haven't been an issue for kayak fishernmen and more of a target species in Florida for many.  I'd stay aware though when the bulls show up and keep my feet onboard.  Since soaking my feet (sitting sideways) is part of my comfort zone on a half dozen models I use, I put a Shark Shield on my boat and haven't given it another thought.

The first kayak fishing tournament champion came off Fort Laud, a guy named Kayak Willey who landed a fat sail fish along the gulfstream against a fleet of powerboats.  The last time I checked, there were a lot of FL forums on kayak fishing.  Mike at www.jaxkayakfishing.com should be a wealth of info, even that far north.  And definately Jimbo from the Fort Lauderdale site, listed at our Links Page.  That's your first stop.

You didn't mention those 35# bluefish.  They've got to be an epic battle just to release but people eat them fresh.

Take a buddy and a lot of safety equipment, start looking and let us know how it goes.
