fished esco today with beautiful conditions. bait was everywhere. i havent seen this much bait in about 2-3 years. water was glassy, warm. there were barracuda everywhere as well as bonito. i caught a small hali (released so it can grow into someones tasty dinner some day). i also had my reel screaming from what seems like a big thresher. i'll never know because he bit through my 40 lb leader. i also caught something i never had caught before, an angel shark. at first i thought it was a weird looking ray but it had sharp nasty looking teeth and a mouth way to big for a ray. i remembered phil harris had posted pics of something like this a while back on another site and then i realized what it was. overall a nice day on the water.

If you have had fish and chips at Andria's in Ventura Harbor (the best fish and chips in the world) it's Angel Shark. I've been dying to catch one.

More likely, they use a lot of dogfish shark in the fish and chips catagory. Eating retail fish and chips, sustainably, is a crapshoot. Stick to dogfish you catch on the kayak and halibut or better in the fish shops.
