The humboldts are in!  Soak in buttermilk overnight then tenderize and saute' or deep-fry.  Great fight too!   Yum!

Having caught these guys from a panga a few times, I'm sure I wouldn't want one in my lap in a kayak, but I'm sure with good gaff work you could get one in your forward hatch safely. Probably as challenging as getting ta thresher in the boat.

We've landed them in the kayak before.  Hook the first one down deep and the rest will follow up for easy pickins.  The squid are really tired by the time they get to the kayak.  Slit them down the side before landing and they are done.  If you get in the right depth, you can catch them in daylight.

Here's a pic of William and Anacapa Bob on the Gulf of California with some smaller daylight Humbolts.
