Oh the horror!
Of minimal participation!
Come on guys! Get out there!
A roll call would be nice, who's first to step up!

Here's what they look like combined!
I'm not going to break them down individually.
That's for individuals to do on their own.

Out of the 26 miles, there's only 6 untouched miles.

Get out to the meetings, and let them know what you
can and cannot live with. Move a line this way or that...an example is Opal's  Dume proposal which starts between Little and Big Dume, it extends further north..but spares BKR entirely. You can live with that, but anymore South and it'd be a deal breaker for you.

Certain proposals favored(FIC/FIN Ext A) over others and why..safety, access, etc..

This is what happens when there are no voices to back your RSG members at the bargaining table.

Thank You Very Much Mugu!
We're re-kindling the fires of awareness.  I suggest everyone with a mailing list send a letter to everyone you know (in California) to make a show.  WITH KIDS!  This has as much to do with preserving sportfishing, as a wholesome family activity and a traditional American recreation, as it does access to our lifelong fishing grounds.
Feel free to contact me directly for detailed info and direction.

Here's a "tutorial" for ya Falcon.

All current proposals are up for public viewing via the MarineMap tool.

You can navigate through any arrays you'd like. Zoom in on proposed Closures in your neck of the woods.
Overlap existing MPA's, Bathymetry, Satelllite imaging, Kelp data etc...

Go to:

http://marinemap.org/marinemap/

You can read the popup "introduction" in the middle of the screen or just close it and start tinkering.

Click on the "MARINE PROTECTED AREAS AND ARRAYS" tab in the Toolbar.
This will load up the available arrays. Check mark whichever one's you'd like to view to turn them on in the tool.

Navigating around is pretty much the same as any other mapping tool. Should be self explanatory.

On the left hand side you have all the Data Layer options, you can turn on existing MPA, Kelp data, etc..

Above that are the tools to measure distance etc..

To view the details of a PROPOSED MPA including rationale etc...just click on the closed area, then click "FULL INFO."

I attended the show in Santa Barbara last night and was pleased to see the trade show format rather than a power-point presentation in an auditorium  with a Q & A session at the end when everyone was tired.  Talking to the DFG employees, I learned that the Redondo,  San Pedro, and Oxnard shows were poorly attended,  with only 65 - 95 citizens showing up.  The SB show had over 100 by 6:30 PM and was growing.   Concensus was that this is something that needs to be done, a lot of thought and work have gone into doing  it conscientiously, and the commission set up to make the decision based on recommendations from the stakeholders will not be tyrannical or foolish.  The MPAs will certainly generate some disappointment but not eliiminate ocean-based commerce or recreation.  BUT, if you didn't show up to put in your two cents, you have nothing to gripe about if your favorite fishing hole gets shut down.  Was also pleased to learn that the contractors there are paid by private foundations, not by taxpayers.

My concerns, being a government employee, involve dependency on computer models (reality is not a simulation), the government's less-than-stellar record on regulating  salmon, energy, home loans, the automotive indusrtry,  and taxes.
