Last year at this time the bite was on for W.S.B. at Refugio north of Santa Barbara. Any as of yet this year I would like to drive down if they are around. I have never caught one but would like to try when I may have a chance.

That's got to be nearing the top end of their range.  It wasn't long ago that we'd just check the party boat counts to follow the bite but these days, the trend towards outlawing recreational sportfishinmg has bannished those reports.  Go with your gut and good luck at Regugio.
