How has the fishing been around County Line or Leo Carillo area?  Big Sur fishing season opened this month.  I'll probably head up there soon.  My 20 year old nephew lives up there and knows the area well.   Last September we pulled in our limit of 19 pound ling cod and limited on Red Rockfish about 50 yards off shore in about 2 hours at Big Sur in the kelp.
