Hooping Clinics are conducted at these locations on weekend and weekday evenings.  Once we get 4-5 onboard, we lock in the nightContact us by email or telephone CKF at 818-970-2392 and let us know which harbor you want to fish.  We get south to OC and SD once or twice a month.  Redondo, Oxnard and Ventura clinics launch almost weekly.

Kayak hooping is lots of fun and will add many pounds of   spiny lobster and crab meat to your catch easily and effectively.  The CKF Guides share years of strategy, pointers and experience that will definately improve your catch of crabs and lobsters.   In addition to lobsters and crabs, fin fish, urchin, and other critters are netted too. You'll learn how, when and where to hoop for the best results and you'll get a good feel for enjoying this exciting "winter" fishery with your kayak.  The big bug for the CKF Hooping Clinics so far weighed in at 8.6 pounds.
The cost of the Hooping Clinic is $50 per person ($60 from Dana Point South due to travel).  We supply each angler with nets, gauge, gloves and more for the clinic.  You'll need a headlamp (recommended, $15 at any hardware store) or one running light on your kayak.  Parking fees vary by landing.  Rental kayaks are available for this clinic for $25-$35.  If you already have your nets, you can use up to 5, we will bait up to 3 nets per angler.   Extra bait is available.  Please let the guide know if you need extra bait when you make your reservation.  We can accomodate 2 anglers on one kayak.  Contact a guide for details.

Please contact us by email or telephone CKF at 818-970-2392 for more information and to reserve a spot.

Lobster Hooping Clinics are conducted in the bays and harbors in a safe, small group setting.  Sessions start between 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm and last from 4-5 hours.  Gear, riggings and techniques are discussed in detail prior to fishing.   Total paddling distance for the evening is under 1 mile.   Participants will leave with all the skills needed to access those nearshore honeyholes everywhere along the coast.
